Run to the Hills is a project I first undertook for my BFA show. Born from my personal experiences at the time, this ongoing series was inspired by feelings of stagnation and sorrow it causes. The subject often feels distant, trapped in a domestic malaise of routine. In several of the images, the edges of the picture become a literal cage that the figures cannot move beyond and appear restless in the absence of real, forward momentum. Gesture drawings lay atop photographs and obscure the form.
This series debuted December, 2017.
